How can I help?
Ghostwriting and Collaboration
So… how does this work, exactly?
Great question. FWIW, I’m not a huge fan of the word “ghostwriter.” I find it reductive and a little too…Casper-ish. But ghostwriting, or collaboration, is basically a brain merge. You bring the ideas, the stories, the experience, the expertise, the mission. I bring the structure, the words, the publishing know-how, and the uncanny ability to sound like you—but, like, on a really good day.
Here’s what it usually looks like:
We talk. A lot.
We hop on calls where I ask you all kinds of questions—some practical, some deep, some borderline therapeutic. I’m listening for the golden threads: the parts of your story and message that are powerful, specific, and worth putting in print. I’m searching for the matrix that makes this whole thing work. You think out loud. I take notes and record.
You don’t need to have your book “figured out.” You don’t need an outline. You don’t even need a title. You just need a sense of what you want to say, and the willingness to say it out loud while I shape it into something book-worthy. It’s okay if it’s messy and chaotic. That’s the point at first.I write. You react.
I draft chapters, proposals, outlines—whatever stage we’re in—and you tell me what feels right, what sounds off, and needs to change. I’m comfortable with whatever level of editing you want.We shape it together.
This is a true collaboration. I won’t disappear into a writing cave and reemerge with a manuscript you barely recognize. You’re deeply involved, your voice is preserved, and your story stays yours—just told in the best, clearest, most impactful way possible. This is still, in every way, your book.
Whether we’re working on a book proposal, full manuscript, or something in-between, my job is to make this feel doable, structured, and fun.
You don’t have to be a writer to write a great book. You just need to be willing to start. I’ll handle the rest.
***Note: My rates for full ghostwriting collaborations range from $75,000-$125,000 depending on your word count and book deal. I don’t exclusively work with clients with traditional book deals, though those are my most common contracts.***
Book Proposals
The proposal process works similarly. A book proposal is basically a business plan for your book. It’s how you convince agents and publishers that your idea is worth betting on. Not just emotionally—but financially.
And you don’t have to figure it out alone, or guess.
Here’s how the proposal process works when we team up:
We start with the idea.
You might have a crystal-clear concept. Or you might just have a feeling that there’s a book in you. Either way, we’ll dig into what you want to say, who it’s for, what makes it uniquely powerful (and sellable), and why you’re the person to write it.I structure it and write it. You breathe.
A great proposal has multiple moving parts—overview, target audience, competitive analysis, author bio, marketing plan, sample chapters—and they all have to work together to make your case. I’ll outline and organize it all so it’s clear, compelling, and positioned to catch an agent’s and publisher’s attention. We edit it, together.
Whether I’m ghostwriting or co-writing, this part is collaborative as well. I’ll write in your voice, using your stories and expertise. You’ll review, tweak, and approve as we go. By the end, you’ll have a proposal that feels like you on paper—just polished and with all those items an agent wants to see.You get a document that actually opens doors.
I know what decision-makers are looking for. You’ll walk away with a professional, pitch-ready proposal that gives your book its best shot.
And no, you don’t have to already have a huge platform or a viral TED Talk to get a book deal, though that certainly helps. You just need a strong idea, a clear message, and the right strategy to bring it to life.
That’s what I’m here for.
***Note: My book proposal rates start at $10,000.***
